Some sketchy moments on the road today. I thought #typhoon #Krathon would limp ashore as a damp, flabby storm but was proven very wrong. Likely some wind records broken for Kaohsiung and nearby areas pic.twitter.com/2RcXrQn2y9

High waves in the sea
As Typhoon Krathon approaches Taiwan, waves hit a beach in Kaohsiung, southern Taiwan. Taiwan's southern cities have been flooded. Kaohsiung authorities have urged its residents to take shelter from potentially damaging winds and rain. Shops collapsed and parks were flooded, but there were no casualties. The slow-moving typhoon, which moved toward Taiwan at a speed of about 4 kilometers per hour (2.5 mph), devastated the eastern and southern parts of the island over the past five days. Thousands of people were therefore forced to move out of mountainous or low-lying areas. Taiwan's economy has been significantly affected in these 5 days.
