The Election Commission of India (ECI) will announce the much-awaited results of the assembly elections in 4 states - Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Rajasthan on Sunday.
Counting will begin at 8 am amid tight security for 230 seats in Madhya
Pradesh, 90 seats in Chhattisgarh, 119 seats in Telangana and 199 seats in
Rajasthan. An assembly seat election in Rajasthan was postponed due to the
death of a candidate.
Counting of assembly elections held in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan,
Chhattisgarh and Telangana will take place on Sunday. With less than six
months left for the general elections in the country, the assembly
elections in these states are being seen as semi-final contests.
Congress is in power in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh and Bharatiya Janata
Party (BJP) is in power in Madhya Pradesh. There is direct competition
between Congress and BJP in these three states, while K. Chandrasekhar
Rao-led Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) is hoping to register a 'hat-trick'
in Telangana.
