The vaults of Kedarnath, located in Uttarakhand, were opened to devotees on
the festival of Akshay Tritiya on Friday after being closed for six months
during winter. With this, this year's Chardham Yatra has started. Baba's
palanquin reached Kedarnath on Thursday itself.
Kedarnath gates opened at 7 am, Yamunotri gates at 10.29 am and Gangotri gates
at 12.20 pm. Badrinath, another one of the famous Dhams known as Char Dham,
will open its gates at 6 am on May 12.
Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee media in-charge Harish Gaur said that the
temple was decorated with flowers for the inauguration of the Kedarnath
temple. Apart from this, flowers were showered from helicopters.
When the gates of Kedarnath were opened today, the temperature in the area was
-1 degree. Devotees are witnessing huge devotion at the place, though the drop
in temperature has not dampened their enthusiasm.

Kedarnath Dham president Rawal Bhimashankar Ling opened the temple doors with
full ceremony. The gates of Kedarnath Dham were opened for devotees at 7.10
am. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was also present on this occasion.
After this the gate of Yamunotri Dham will be opened at 10.29 am and the gate
of Gangotri Dham will be opened at 12.25 am. Uttarakhand Chief Minister
Pushkar Singh Dhami reached Kedarnath Dham at seven in the morning for darshan
and inspection.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Dhami in his message to the devotees on the
occasion of the initiation of Chardham Yatra said that a warm welcome and
congratulations to all the devotees on Chardham Yatra 2024. All of you are
requested to take special care of cleanliness while traveling and avoid single
use plastic. Our government has made special arrangements for the security of
the elderly, women and children coming to Chardham.

At the same time, devotees will have to wait a little longer for the gates of
Badrinath to open. The gates of Badrinath Dham will be opened on Sunday 12th
May at 6 am.
Significance of Kedarnath
Kedarnath is a holy place of Lord Shiva in Rudraprayag district of
Uttarakhand. Millions of people visit here every year. Kedarnath is also
considered among the twelve Jyotirlingas and Panch Kedars of Lord Shiva. The
Shivling installed in the Kedarnath temple is self-sufficient. Due to which
the importance of the temple increases.

Significance of Badrinath
Badrinath is considered one of the main Dhams among the four Dhams. It is
situated on the banks of the Alaknanda river in the Himalayan mountain range.
This is primarily a temple of Lord Vishnu. Nara and Narayana are worshiped
here. This temple is divided into three parts. There are 15 statues in the
Badrinath temple premises. The most famous of which is the statue of Lord
Vishnu.
